Safe Ears Pro is built with privacy by design. All settings and audio processing happen 100% inside your browser. The extension does not collect, sell, or track any personal data.

Summary

Safe Ears Pro processes audio entirely on your own device. We do not run servers that store your data, and we do not use analytics or trackers.

Data the extension handles

Local settings — volume, equalizer, presets, night mode, protection sensitivity, Auto Volume AI settings, theme, per-site profiles and license state. Stored with chrome.storage.local only on your device.
Tab audio — processed in real time via the Web Audio API inside the page itself. Audio is never recorded, stored, or uploaded to any server.

Network requests

The extension makes a network request only when you activate or re-validate a Pro license. In that case your license key and the product ID are sent to Gumroad's license verification API (https://api.gumroad.com/v2/licenses/verify) to confirm your subscription is active. No browsing data, no audio, and no personal information beyond the license key is ever transmitted. On YouTube and Twitch (the free tier) no network request is made at all.

Permissions and why they are used

Permission	Why
storage	Save your settings locally.
activeTab + scripting	Apply audio processing to the tab you are viewing and inject the audio engine when you open the extension.
host access (all sites)	So the equalizer/booster can work on any site with audio or video (Pro feature). In the free version, processing only applies on YouTube and Twitch.
api.gumroad.com access	Only to verify your Pro license key.

Payments

Pro plans (monthly/annual) are handled by Gumroad, an external payment provider. The extension only stores a local license indicator; it never stores card or payment data.
